The MTV Video Music Awards made the most of the cards 2020 has dealt, and transformed the ceremony this year into a creative, informative and socially distanced event with appearances by today's biggest stars.
The Weeknd took home the coveted video of the year award for his dizzying, gruesome “Blinding Lights” video, but for the star, “it's hard to celebrate.” In his brief acceptance speech, the singer thanked those involved in making the video, before calling attention to racial injustice and police brutality by declaring, “Justice for Jacob Blake. Justice for Breonna Taylor.”
