At long last, the hip-hop community can celebrate the release of Bobby Shmurda. After spending six years at New York's Clinton Correctional Facility for charges of conspiracy, reckless endangerment and gun possession, the Brooklyn rapper born Ackquille Pollard was released on Tuesday .
In 2014, Shmurda became a Big Apple breakout story with his hit record “Hot N-a.” His bravado, street appeal and signature hat toss in the song's video made him an instant sensation in hip-hop. Rapper Bobby Shmurda was released from jail on Tuesday after doing six years of a seven-year sentence for conspiracy and weapons possession.
The conditional release from New York's Clinton Correctional Facility was confirmed via an inmate search and a statement from the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision that read, “At approximately 8:30 this morning, Ackquille Pollard was conditionally released from Clinton Correctional Facility. Mr. Pollard will be under community supervision in Kings County until he completes his sentence on February 23, 2026.”
